Holo is an artwork I made with Dina Levy as part of the Imperial Hotel Wonderland exhibition. It is a physical hotel room transformed into a virtual experience
Holo is a short journey that takes the viewer from the limited material world to the fantastic, infinite, and back. For us, the hotel room is a portal to experiences and fantasies, and in our utopia, we wanted to transcend the physical confines of the room into imaginary and infinite spaces.
Virtual reality technology allows us to create pixels in physical space and shape reality with them. Using artificial intelligence, we constructed imaginative environments. The room itself appears as a grid, a digital void on which pixels organize and manifest as virtual visions.
It was important for us to make this experience accessible to all exhibition visitors, allowing everyone to have an immersive and unique experience without the need for guidance, instruction, or prior knowledge. The goggles are provided at the entrance to the room, and the visitor is required to put them on to reveal the experience. As one enters the room and gazes around, the world around them disintegrates and they are transported to a parallel reality.
